What is a good beginners motorcycle?

Answer:

Don't listen to any of the folks posting earlier, those are all terrible beginners bikes. If you have never ridden a motorcycle, get a bike that fits your frame, but not a monster engined crotch rocket. They are incredible to ride, but not nearly as forgiving or pleasant to ride until you have sufficient skills to properly handle the bike. I recommend that you get a dual purpose bike and spend some time on fire roads so you can learn what it feels like to ride with some margin for error. Learn how to brake and use your body weight to properly balance the bike when cornering. I would also recommend a motorcycle riding school of some sort. I raced dirt bikes for 10 years, after having ridden for 3 years both on and off road. I then went to the Keith Code Cornering school and learned more in 4 hours than in the previous 13 years. Riding on the street is serious and at the bare minimum you need to take a motorcycle safety class. Then visit a local bike shop and start talking to the people there. You will learn quite a bit just hanging out there and might find a deal on a good beginners bike. You will have way more fun in the long run and avoid needlessly smearing your body on the pavement.
That much money, I wouldn't be asking the question on Yahoo, I'd ask my security expert. And he knows more than anyone on this forum, or he should.
A 650-750 Honda or Yamaha like a NightHawk or Maxim
I'm thinking an alligator mote!
