Question:

what is crane rigging?

what is the difference between rigging, wire rope and rope?

Answer:

Wire rope is twisted line made of stainless, or high tensile steel. Rigging refers to the slings, or chains that attach the load to the lift hook. Rigging also refers to the act of attaching a load to a load handling device, such as a crane.
Crane rigging usually refers to the cable that actually is attached to a cylinder in the crane and the motor turns the cyl. and either take up cable or vice versa. The cable is reeved thru the long (arm) boom of the crane and thru pulleys and then at the end of the cable there is a hook.
