Question:

What is emmision control system problem?

I saw a orange colour light in my Honda Civic which do not off after starting engine. It indicate engine may have emmision control system problem.I want to know Is it a serious fault? Can I drive a car or not? Will it take too much time to repair?

Answer:

You'll have to take it to a garage and have them pull the fault code from the computer and diagnose the cause from there. It could be something as simple as a loose fuel filler cap or a major fault that will be expensive to repair. If it's operating more or less normally you can safely drive it to a garage to have it checked out, but should have it checked out ASAP.
It indicates something in the emission control or transmission is reporting a fault. Most auto parts chain stores and Aamco will read the codes at no charge to identify the fault. The most serious faults make the light flash, and there are more than a thousand codes that can be reported. As long as the car is behaving normally it is okay to drive it in town, and once you are sure the fuel economy is normal - or at least not terrible - you can drive it on the highway. Red warning lights mean stop driving right away, amber ones mean you should get your car checked when you can.
