Groove Metal BQ: Phil Anselmo BQ2: Pantera BQ3: Black Sabbath
Thrash metal. I like so many of them though. This anwser is bound to change depending on my mood. BQ1- Bruce Dickinson BQ2- Black Sabbath BQ3 - Definately Black Sabbath. While bands like Iron Butterfly or Led Zeppelin laid down the foundation it was definately Black Sabbath who did it.
Not counting traditional heavy metal, thash metal BQ1: Tim Ripper Owens BQ2: Bruce Dickinson BQ3: Iron Butterfly; as far as the original rendition of metal goes, they were indeed the first heavy metal band. But if we're talking about the benchmark for what metal would become by the '80s, then Black Sabbath.
Industrial Metal BQ: Rob Halford BQ2: Melechesh BQ3: Black Sabbath
Hmm...I really don't have a specific favorite for metal. I like a little of everything. Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Death Metal (mainly the melodic death metal variety), Groove Metal, Metalcore, etc... If I had to choose, I'd go with heavy metal BQ: Ronnie James Dio...I hate the fact that he is dead :( BQ2: Megadeth BQ3: I think Black Sabbath was the first to be truely called metal. I may be wrong though.
