Question:

what is the resonant frequency of quartz sand?

I need to know what frequency of sound (i'm assuming ultrasound) will average quartz sand resonate? My experiment involves two graphite rods, placed in a glass cup of saltwater and fine quartz sand. At what frequency of sound will the quartz sand resonate enough to cause friction on the graphite rod? i.e. I have a simple saltwater galvanic cell and want to use sand and sound to manipulate the electrical output across the graphite rods? i'm assuming this is a question of piezoelectricity and the correct resonant frequency of sand.

Answer:

Is it granite or quartz? If quartz, what brand? If granite, what color? Quartz is a man-made product, similar to Corian, except with ground quartz mixed in. Different stones have different qualities. Usually, lighter colors are less dense. If something got in, then the surface was not properly sealed. Start with warm water. Flood the area and let it set. Dry it off and give it time to dry out (days). Reseal and repeat resealing every six months. Never clean with Windex or any cleaner that is abrasive or contains ammonia
Ask at Home Depot, a place that sells granite countertops, or contact the manufacturer.
How did it stain if it was sealed?Iced tea or hot tea?Is it condinsation or heat,or is it acually tea?Dont try any thing untill u know what you know what acually caused the mark....
