These smoke detectors are for a panel ether a residential fire/burglar alarm panel or a dedicated fire alarm panel. You will have to disconnect the power to whatever panel you have by finding what circuit powers the panel and turning it off or some panels have plug in transformers you can simply unplug them. Then you will need to open the panel and remove the connections to the battery. Also from what you told me you said that this panel is not on a dedicated circuit this is a code violation I would strongly recommend disconnecting the 120v line to the panel and run a new line straight from the breaker box for its own dedicated circuit. When you are finished installing these new smoke detectors and power everything back on you will need to call the alarm company you have and tell them you will be testing them that way the fire department does not respond thinking its real fire.
