I have ATT for ISP but the data cable that came with the modem is very short so I can't have the pc far from the phone jack. Purchased a Belkin data cable but it doesn't fit the phone jack. What kind of cable do I need to get? Any help will be appreciated.

You buy an ethernet cable (cat5 cable) at your local electronics place. That is the cable that runs from your computer to the router. If you are talking about the line from your phone jack to your router, that is just a regular phone line.
It depends which cable you mean. The cable between the modem and the wall is just a standard phone cable. The cable between the modem and your computer is an Ethernet cable, it's also called Cat5, Cat6, or RJ45.
