I'm told that in most jurisdictions, this product is NOT permitted in apartment buildings. YOU have to pass the local occupancy [building department] inspections or lose your ability to collect rent. I suggest hiring a contractor or plumber [PS: you didn't tell us the size of the pipe, making me suspect it is fairly large. I haven't heard of any uses larger than a residential water heater connection.]
Try this little experiment. It only works on coasters that don't have reverse G sections and are not bumpy. With those type of coasters that maintain at least some force on your bottom, put a penny on the palm of your open hand and keep it sitting there from the start. It will never leave your palm, even if there are loops or spirals.
Fire is a peril. You can insure a building for fire coverage. Building is a type of property. You can insure property for fire coverage. You can also insure property for wind coverage, or theft, or vandalism, or water, etc. How much it costs, depends on : Construction materials age of building age of updates use of building (occupancy) location protection class protective devices cost to rebuild building None of which you mentioned. You cannot buy building insurance on a month to month basis. You have to buy it for a full year.
NO pipe can be bypassed in that manner. The connector in question DOES NOT shut off flow through the original pipe.
I suggest you at least ask some plumbersI think it's a bad idea because the other sections of piping will erode soon anyway
