Question:

What should I do with an old fire extinguisher?

I have an old fire extinguisher that is no longer usable because the pressure is too low. It can be recharged, but I just bought a new one instead. I had no idea what to do with the old one, so I listed it as a free item in Craig's list and there were no takers, so obviously it is worthless. Can I just toss it in the garbage or do I need to recycle it somewhere?Anyone have any experience with this? PS - My fire department doesn't recharge fire extinguishers.

Answer:

They can. Will they? Nobody knows. Apartments are REQUIRED to provide smoke detectors in each unit. If they do not, then they are fined and may be shut down - which is why they give you that dire warning about not disabling the one they provided. If your smoke detector was beeping all the time, you should have notified the landlord and had it checked instead of removing it. Do you have any idea how many people die every year because of not having smoke detectors?? Call your local fire department or fire marshal - most places give them out for FREE. Or isn't your life worth free?
so you're asking if $50 headphones are better than a $300 pair? you cant be serious.
