HI there, Your copper pipe is probably a type L copper pipe used in residential above ground water or gas piping systems. The outside diameter is 5/8 inch (0.625) and is designed to be used with a brass swedge (flair) fitting, sweat (soldered) or compression fittings. See link below for specs.
