Question:

What size memory card fits what card reader?

I know shouldn't force a memory card into a card reader. Do they come in sizes or what? How do you know what size to buy? I have an 8gb memory card and my card reader says SD/MMC/RS-MMC 2.0. The memory card doesn't just slide in with no resistance, but I don't have to really force it in. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

Answer:

The SD / MMC / RS-MMC are the format of the Memory Card. You will need to find out the format of your own memory card and put it in correct slot of the card reader. Most of the card reader has more than 1 slot for different type of memory cards. Generally, the memory capacity is not an issue for the card reader except for the older design that can't read High Capacity cards.
You can buy card specific readers - that's what I've done. I have three digital cameras each with its own reader because of different styles of cards. Or you can opt for the style of reader that takes different styles. I've found those don't always work as well, at least not for me, so I went with the card specific kind your choice. All the newer SD, if that's what you're using, will take SDHC cards.
