What the heck is NU-metal?I know heavy metal, black metal, but NU. Was someone using NU to be short for NEW...Please help I feel I must be getting old now....tear tear..
In general, metal atoms are larger in size than nonmetals. The outer electrons in metals are farther from the nucleus, so they are more easily removed. Nonmetals tend to gain electrons because they are smaller in size and incoming electrons can get closer to the nucleus where the pull is stronger.
Metals form what is called a metallic bond, a delocalised mess of electrons around all the nuclei. This is what give metals their metallic properties. Non metals have positively charged nuclei, and as such will attract electrons and form covalent bonds. I'd go into more details but its been a while since chemistry.
