i cant decide on a body lift kit or a suspension lift. and whats the difference?
My money is on a bad wheel bearing My 1988 camaro did the same thing, and it ended up being a combo of a bad wheel bearing and a slightly warrped axle
There is always some float on the end of the axle as far as I know. Might be shot bearing or it could be the wheel is buckled out of true. Or the tyre may not be correctly seated on the bead. Let it down then pump it up to about 60psi. Then adjust to your correct pressures. Get the car up on stands and spin it.
Body lift separates the body from the frame and only lifts the cab and bed. Rubber blocks are installed at the points where the body bolts to the frame and longer bolts replace the stock ones. The frame remains in the same position relative to the axles. Suspension lift raises the frame, body, and all, from the axles up. But be careful with suspension lifts. If you are considering leaf spring shackles and/or shackle blocks you will have a very adverse affect on your handling. My initial advice is to not lift the vehicle at all. If you gotta lift it either get an actual suspension system kit that includes taller springs and shocks. These are available from outlets such as Desert Rat. Rancho. etc. These are expensive, however. As an option, the body lift will raise the body and make the truck appear taller, but you will gain very little in actual ground clearance.
Sounds like you might have a broken axle,if you got a limited slip diff it would allow you to continue to drive.A wheel bearing should be easier and cheaper to fix than a broken axle so start there first.Take the axle out and all your questions will be answered.
