im 55 in mining and 47 in smithing i want to get to lvl 50 smithing
Iron or Steel items. You get the same xp per bar regardless of what item you make with them (the xp from a steel plate would be the same as making 5 steel daggers for example). Possibly the most useful item to make would be knives or arrowheads as you could resell these or use them yourself. Of course, the biggest drawback to iron is the 50% success rate unless you have a Ring of Forging, so you need to weigh which one you would prefer - mining a lot of iron only (which is fast) and getting some Rings of Forging, or mining the iron and then mining coal (which may take longer). Edit - and in response to the previous poster, gold is the best xp for smelting but is completely useless if you intend on smithing as well. Assuming you are around 77k xp in smithing, you need probably around 24k xp to lvl 50. So, you could smelt and smith 443 steel bars, 650 iron bars, or smelt 1,082 gold bars. If you turned for example those steel bars into steel arrowheads and then fletched them, you would have over six thousand arrows you could then turn into profit. Either way, good luck on 50 smithing!
omg this is so easy. if u hav money buy steel bars and make them into steel stuff.(i suggest the best u can make) if u cany buy then try to mine the coal and iron or buy one of the ores and mine the other. itl give u mining xp but make steel bars and make the best item u can til u lvl up. itll take a while but itll give u tons of xp i recomend doing 500 to 1k steel bars at a time
I've answered this question a dozen times, and every time people say I'm insane. The fastest way to get smithing xp is: Gold. That's right. a gold ore, when smelted into a bar, gives you 22.5 ( I think) smithing xp. That's for one ore, one bar. You get no xp from smithing it because you can't smith it. Now, let's compare with, say mith. You get 90 (I think) xp from a bar of mith : 30 xp for making the bar, 60 xp for smithing it into a mith item. But that involves 5 rocks - 4 coal and one mith ore, bringing your xp per rock to 90/5 18. You can do this math for any other ore. A bronze bar takes 2 ore (one copper, one tin). Iron takes 2 ore per bar (every other ore fails to make a bar). steel takes three, mith 5, addy 7, rune takes 9 rocks. Even though smelting and smithing a bar of runite give you something like 190 smithing XP that's 21.1 xp per rock, which is still less than gold! Gold and silver are the only two ores that produce 1 bar per rock. Therefore, you will get more smithing xp per rock, more smithing xp per trip to the furnace, and more smithing xp per hour spent mining by mining and smelting gold than mining , smelting and smithing any other ore. If you are a member, there's set of gloves that doubles the XP you get from smelting gold.
