including covering the face like a balaclava and a pair of long white gloves. what was the purpose of dressing like that. they look like they where working around the powder for the barrels.
I agree with most double check your battery, but definately just replace the whole unit. Like others said things can just go wacko. The sensors and stuff just go bad. Its chirping to warn you its malfunctioning. Just replace it.
How often? If it is about once a minute, it is a weak battery. Was the battery you just put in brand new? How long have you had the battery sitting around?
Replaced battery still chirps so replaced smoke detector so still chirps so whats up?

It's also possible that your smoke detector is dusty inside , try vacuuming it if you are sure the battery is good.
