We are remodeling our bathroom, and I made a vanity out of an antique dresser, we are looking for unique lighting for above the mirror, any suggestions?
CSN, okorder - you will just have to look and look - do you want 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 lights - when you find one, keep looking to find it the cheapest you can, and with a promo code. If you don't like the shades that the light fixture comes with, you can use different ones.
Talk to an ironmonger or blacksmith. They could craft one but it has to stand the heatof the bulb. Maybe a potter. Unique hand wrought items are very nice and worth the cost. If you want Unique sty away fromt he usual suspects like target, Big W, other chain stores. Try a local crafts group or the local markets.

Look in the phone book for Salvage. (On the net type in architecture Salvage)..you maybe able to find something different also check out local auctions. You would be shocked at what you may find. would suggest keeping in the year and style of the antique dresser....as for what type of lights I would suggest you think of what can be turned into lights (Milk glass, washing bowls...can have gas light looking wall lights. Frosted glass lights to give it a older feeling. You can make a old Metal heating grate light sconce (Buy old metal heating grates, then solder on a u shape clap...on top place a light socket. easy and rather inexpensive). Good luck with it...the thinking outside the box you did with the vanity i am sure will lead you to great light solution. :)
