Question:

Where can I go to get an exhaust system for my 2009 Chevy Malibu LS?

Also out of curiosity what is a catback system and how does it differ from and exhaust system or is that just the same thing?

Answer:

I have not seen an aftermarket system for the NEW Malibu yet. I have a 2006 Malibu Maxx that some buddies and I modified just because we could while we were drinking beer out in the garage. We couldn't find an aftermarket exhaust for it either, but a local muffler shop rigged up a beautiful custom dual exhaust for us. It's been on the car for two years with no problems. You may have to go that route - INSIST ON STAINLESS STEEL.
the term catback just means you're replacing the exhaust system from the cat (catalytic converter) all the way back to the muffler/tailpipe. Just leave it alone - Chevy put a good exhaust system on there that will last you for many years, replacing it will cost you money and gain you absolutely nothing except perhaps more noise. They do not add much (if any) power despite all the claims that they do. When you need a new one in a few years do what you want, but replacing it now is not money well spent.
