Which direction should buddha statue face in home or garden?
In Asian temples and temple gardens, Buddha statues are generally oriented so that they face the south. There are various geomantic reasons for this, but primarily it's so that the Buddha doesn't have to face into the demon energy that is said to come out of the north. Truthfully, it doesn't matter too much. In my home, one Buddha statue faces east, another faces north. They both look happy. And I'm happy, also.
The Buddha is not a God he is not worshiped. But he is revered what is whining and understanding of life.
That one you got me. Do you keep your toilet lid closed? Have a living plant to your right in the main entry way?... Check on the net about feng shui. Glad someone else believes in it. My previous neighbor is from Taiwan taught me a lot. I moved to a small town in Texas look at me like I'm crazy
The direction is not very important, more important is that you keep the Buddha statue (or a picture or other symbol of any enlightened being) in a clean and high place. Basically, you keep his head higher than your head, at least when you're seated on your meditation cushion. You don't point the soles of your feet towards the statue, you don't grab it in the head if you lift it, and you watch your thoughts, words and actions in front of it. In short, you show the statue or picture the same respect you would have shown the Buddha himself if he would have been present in your room.
Not sure but probably the West as that's the direction of some cool paradise. You could also place it anywhere where you can look at it and feel blessed with the Buddha's infinite grace and wisdom. There is no direction that the Buddha's statue cannot bring light and peace to :)
