Question:

Which is better for keeping your hands warm on a cold winter day? Gloves or mittens?

When I was little it was mittens. My mom even safety pinned them to my coat sleeves so I wouldn't lose them in the cloakroom. When I got older I started wearing gloves and have pretty much worn them ever since. I try to avoid losing them by stuffing them in my pockets when I come indoors. But mittens have a special value in keeping your fingers warm by keeping them in contact with each other. So which would you recommend? Gloves or mittens? And should I keep the safety pins handy?

Answer:

This is normal and affects CD/RW drives as well. Optical drives from different manufacturers drives work better with some brands of media than others. Different brands use different dyes and reflective materials in the manufacturing process, settings like laser intensity which are optimal for some, work less well on others. DVD burners typically try to identify exact brand of media when it's inserted in order to determine which settings are optimal- but sometimes the information programmed into the firmware doesn't match up the latest specs for particular brand. So you'll want to keep your firmware up-to-date, and stick with brands which you've found to be the most reliable for your burner.
Just read the specs for the smoke detector you are looking at to determine if it is impervious to high humidity. If it doesn't say, then don't buy it.
