If you bake often, go with the suggestion of the pie crust shield from Bed Bath and BeyondThose work great! I put it on 1/2 way through cooking so that the crust gets brown, but then it doesn't burn.
It is actually really easy.just take a thin strip of foil and cover the crustYou will have to do this in about three or four sections.When the pie is about done remove foil so edges can get golden brown.
Cut foil into 2 full length strips you need 3 strips and lock them edge to edge by folding over 2 or 3 times you now have a long strip put it around the pie like a collar at the edge then fold the open edge so its a tight collarThen flip it over and under the edgeI hope that makes senseI only do this if the edges look like they are getting to brownLonger baking pies will sometimes get a dark or burnt crust.
