Question:

Why do smoke detector batteries always go flat at night?

Never in the day..they seem to know you're asleep and want to annoy you!

Answer:

Extinguishers have different contents. Was it foam, powder, water, CO2? Knowing the size and type of tree would be an advantage. I think you need to just sit back and wait to see what happens to see if any parts of the plant are genuinely dead. Although leaves may be dead, the buds may not be affected, so wait a while and look closely for new growth. This could be a few weeks, depending on your plant, and whether or not it was growing actively at the time. Expect to see some damage where there was a bit of spread of material, or splatter. If, after say a month, parts of the plant are obviously dead, a general approach would be to cut off the dead material, going towards the stem until you find the next active bud or branch/twig.
That is not 100% gross, but if she is putting her fingers in your mouth she should have stop and took off even just one glove to do what she needed to do. Next if their is one explain to her that your not comfortable with that situation. She should of known better but she could of done that before and no one said anything. If it isn't cool with you then tell them cuz their not going to stop until you put your foot down.
Opening the hydrant for water to play in is not going to get kids in trouble. If you damage the hydrant you could be charged with damaging public property, and depending on the cost of the damage it could be serious.
