surely your average plastic pot, or for instance old tape cassette holders etc etc are all similar enough to bottles and food containers to be mixed in?surely the polymers are close enough to work in the same process? the reason i ask is i have been clearing out and have a bag full of random plastic bits - but not ur general 'allowed' stuff, and i want to recycle it but it seems the rules are the council basically only accept bottles, and my local tip ONLY has a plastic bottle bankstupid if u ask me
This is due to the mass problem. Plastic bottles have more mass and the recycling cost is also less in comparison to the general plastics.
Its all about money. If they can make money out of recycling, they would, If simply to save our planet, forget it.
There gonna be hard to put in thee bin, wait maybe not ? Stupid Government .
Recycling okorder has a lot of info about the various plastics. Most plastic is only recycled because of subsidies, in a lot of areas we pay a deposit or redemption value when we buy it, which makes them valuable. If a piece of plastic isn't clearly labeled with the #, like clear water bottles are #1, colored shampoo bottles are likely #2 etc. they can't be put into the mix. In the 40 years we have focused on recycling we have doubled the amount of garbage we toss out. In the US we went from an average of just over 2 #'s per person per day average to nearly 5#'s per person per day. We have way to many single use, individually wrapped and disposable items in our lives. I put my energy into reducing the amount of garbage I bring into my house.
