Question:

Why does my Kidde heat/smoke detector go off randomly?

I have seven smoke alarms in my house. I am having trouble because one keeps going off. 2 nights ago, one went off at 1:30 in the morning. Two days later, the same one went off. And it isn't even doing Code-3 right. What's even weirder is that none of the rest of them are going off! They are all hardwired Kidde ones. Please tell me why it is going off and how to fix it.

Answer:

If it is not the battery there are two other possibilities: 1. Alarms will go off if dust has invaded the mechanism. All you have to do to fix is get a can of spray air to clean it out. 2. Check the expiration date on the bottom of the detector, it may be too old. I did both of those things and fixed my problem-advice was from the fire department :)
The clock alarm system is separate from the phone system. The alarm will go off as long as there is still enough electrical power..even if the phone is turned off.[as many found out to their dismay]. For some phone models, this auto power on feature can be set to off so that the alarm will not come on.
A lot of phones do, but then again some don't. And it won't if its completely flat. You could try googling your type of phone and seeing if its an added feature?
