i have just got a lcd monitor from a friend and ive plugged it in etc but the screen goes blank although the green light is on if i switch it off and on again i get a picture for about 2 seconds then it goes blank again spoke to my friend and it seemed fine when she had it i don't know the make of it as it don't say on the back anyone have any ideas im using an old Monitor at the moment which is working ok so im presuming its not my pc.

try changing the screen resolution because the one u have for the older monitor might not be supported on the lcd.
More than likely the inverter board for your LCD has gone bad. The inverter board powers the back lights in your LCD. If you will take a flash light and shine it directly at the LCD you will probably see the display very dimmly. You can purchase the board and swap it yourself or you can pay someone to do it. Either way it will be cheaper than buying a new LCD.
