Question:

Why is there an American Flag hanging from the top part of this huge construction crane next to my house?

A crew built this huge crane to build an office building next to my house.... There is a huge flag hanging from the top of it.... Why does the construction company do this???

Answer:

Wind becomes an issue when lifting large loads with a crane that has a long boom. On some large cranes you may see an anemometer near the end of the crane's boom. The crane operator will usually not make certain heavy lifts if the wind speed is too high. If the crane does not have an anemometer, they may be using a flag to tell them the direction of the wind and to give them a rough estimate of wind's speed.
Crane Flags
probably becasue they are proud of their country
