Question:

Why isn't resin casting of figurines more popular?

it's not all that costly or time consuming as compared to ceramics (especially since you don't need a kiln), it's less messy and far more durable than plaster, and it seems like once you got it the hang of it, resin casting would be a pretty awesome hobby. am i missing something here? if you do resin casting, what books, sites, and/or supply companies do you recommend? thanks. :)

Answer:

Flour, baby powder, talc powder, starch powder. Non conductive things.
Do not use water, you can get shocked. Kitchen fires and electric outlets, use salt. A large applaince you should cut power and then use water I suppose
turn off the power immediatly then you can use water. but you really need a extinguisher rated for electrical fires in your home. Dont turn the power back on till you determin the cause of the fire. B^
In the case of an OSHA inspection the extinguisher would expire at the end of January.
The first thing you do, assuming you don't have a fire right now and are standing there looking at it wondering what to do, is get on your coat, (if you live somewhere that's cold tonight), and go to the nearest store that sells fire extinguishers for GREASE FIRES, ELECTRICAL FIRES, TV FIRES, RADIO FIRES, ALL THOSE SORTS OF FIRES, and buy at least one, preferably two. These extinguishers put out a powdery spray of material that will blanket the fire. That way you'll have one for the kitchen and one for the rest of the house. As several of the previous answers have mentioned, DON'T put water on an electrical fire. If you have baking soda, flour, salt, anything like that that will smother the flames. Remember, in order for a fire to happen there has to be three things come together; they are a flammable substance, (called fuel), heat, (such as from electric wires arcing on the back of a recept) or any other high heat source, and the last thing is air, (Oxygen). Take away any one of those and there's no more fire. The air is the easiest thing to take away in these sorts of fires so that's what you aim for.
