why isnt light an element in the periodic table? there are different types of light, ( UV light, infared light, flouresent, regular light and maybe more i dont know about. But why isnt there at least one in the periodic table?
Light is not made out of matter. Light particles, photons, do not have any mass. In order for something to be considered an element, it must be a pure and irreducible form of matter. So what is light then? Light is actually energy that takes the form of both a wave and a particle.
Elements are made of attoms. Light is not - it is made of photons.
Light is matter just in a different form, so technically light is an element. Ex) The light from the sun is caused by the nuclear fusion of the elements Hydrogen Helium.
