06 impala LT door lock problems
A greatly simplified explanation. There are lots of more precise explanations at sites like and howthingswork. The write laser has two strengths, one that totally melts spots on the surface of the disk, and one that just softens it. If a 0 is a reflective spot on the disk surface, and 1 is a non reflective spot on the disk (actually less reflective). The material in the disk, when totally melted will cool in a way that it's structure is aligned (like glass) - think of it as smooth. So that is how you would write a 0. The material in the disk, when barely melted cools too quickly to re-align (foggy like frosted glass or shiny sand) - think of it as rough. So that is how you write a 1. You can write over the same spot, but usually a block is erased with the strong power, then individual 1's written and 0's left shiny.
only if it is cold outside. If I'm in Hawaii I open my arms and enjoy the moment!
