Question:

Will ceramic crack if it gets cold?

I am thinking about putting my Snow Village collection in a storage barn during the off season. It gets sometimes gets cold wear we live and I heard that if ceramic gets cold then warms up again it cracks. Does anybody know more about this. Would it be safe to put the items in a storage building.

Answer:

1.Food 2.Extra food 3.money to buy food off of people.
Only if there is a flaw in it. Over long periods of time the glaze will start to crack but that happens regardless of the temperature.
Sleep with your hands in a latex glove full of vaseline at night. Then they'll be super soft when you wake up! The only down side - getting all that petroleum jelly off your hands the next morning. I imagine that the benefits as a gopher at Panera (and by benefits, I mean extra food that you don't have to pay for) are fantastic!
Getting a ceramic cold and then warm again isn't a problem, as long as it happens slowly. If you've packed the houses in a box and let them acclimate for a few hours before unloading them, you should be fine. The bigger danger with low-fired earthenware (like Snow Village houses) is it gets wet and freezes. The ceramic these are made of is porous, so water inside of them will cause them to crack. Make sure your building is water tight, and they're elevated where they won't get wet.
