i have a 98 nissan sentra. and everytime we use the windshield wipers something pops off. my bf fixes the arm connecting to the motor to the wipers it starts working again but it somehow slips off again. and we have trouble taking off this protector thing on the right side because the wipers are connected to it. we can take off the left side but we don‘t know how to fully take off the wipers that are in the way on the right side. sorry if this is confusingi don‘t know much about cars and my bf isnt helping.

It sounds like the the splines on the arms maybe worn off, this will cause the arms to slip and not work properly. To take the arms of you must remove the nut at the base of the wiper arm, most times this is consealed under a cover which you must pop off, it just clips on. Once you have the cover off and you take the nut off you have to wiggle to arm back and forth while pull up on it to remove it. If the splines are in really bad shape it will come off immediately after removing the bolt. If this is the case you must replce the arm(s) affect, it i sthe only way to fix them. I hope this helps.
