And let's say that air conditioning and heaters haven't been invented so you have to cool off in little lakes or streams and warm up by the fireplace and blankets! I love the sun but I would rather live somewhere really cold. I can always snuggle up in a heavy coat and warm up by a toasty fire but it's miserable to lay there sweating in bed!
How old is your girlfriend? If she's young she may have been trying smoking cigarettes or pot or something.
