Question:

Xbox 360 HDD data transfer, without the official transfer cable?

Hi, I just recently bought a used 120 Gigabyte Hard Disk Drive for my Xbox 360 Console. I want to transfer all of my data from my 15GB HDD to my 120GB HDD without the official data transfer cable, because it did not come with my purchase of the hard drive, and I don't want to have to order and wait for Microsoft to ship me one. Also, I do not own an Xbox 360 memory card, so is there any other way to transfer the data? I really would rather not lose my game saves! Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Answer:

Those are the only two ways to transfer saves so you're either going to have to wait for MS to send a cable or buy a memory card.
The problem with the use a USB thumb drive method is, if your old 360 won't even turn on, or is very unstable, this probably won't work. You can get a transfer cable from Gamestop for about $15, then sell it back to them for a few bucks. Yes it's a ripoff but it beats paying $20 for a new cable. I would strongly recommend using the transfer cable.
