I bought several skeins of acrylic yarn earlier this year and due to the high humidity where they were kept in my house, are now mildewy (visible on the skeins) and of course smell mustyI plan on putting the skeins in the sun to help kill the stuff off (I can also freeze the skeins to kill it, but I don't have room in there at the moment)Do you think this will work? Since they are skeins, it's not like I can toss them into the washing machine to clean them up like I could a mildewy blanket or something.Also, will this adversely affect whatever I make of this yarn, if I crochet the afghan or whatever and wash it really well after it is done? I don't want to make something and have all that stuff come back, and I think my plan will workI've just never run into this problem with skeins of yarnAny advice? Thanks! :-)
do not use pva, there is not any pick, i dont understand why human beings think of they might desire to apply pva on precise of ending plaster to color it! the only reason you may pick to apply pva may well be to reskim it and your not doing that, if the wall were freshly plastered you may wait till it dries and then use a splash coat, a watered down emulsion paint, for a minimum of the 1st and perhaps even 2d coat then you certainly might desire to color it as widely used, even regardless of the undeniable fact that for the time of your subject, all i might purely do is fill the section the place the paint has come off with some filler purely such as you probably did with the cracks, rub it down and then paint over that, dont use pva for portray there is not any pick, have confidence me in this im a qualified plasterer with 10 years journey
Puffy paint should adhere fairly well to canvas as it isIf your puffy paint is already dry, get jewel glue or gem glue to attach itNeither PVA glue nor Super Glue is flexible enough for that jobIt will simply crack and fall off.
Bleach kills mildew, but if you bleach it the color might come off (duh)Cut a little snip and bleach it and see if it bleaches itIf not, soak it in a weak bleach and water solution to kill the mildewOtherwise, try non-chlorine bleach like Clorox for colors or Oxy-CleanAgain, test a small snippet of yarn, then soak the skeins in a solution of this then rinse and see how it goesYou could also test some anti-mildew bathroom cleanersThe sun also works quite well in getting rid of mildew, though you have color-bleaching issues with the sun, tooA solution of lemon juice and salt could also work (testing for colorfastness first).
