Question:

10 points! Warming up water.? Thanks:D?

So i am doing a lab where my materials are ashoe boxblack paperalluminum foilplastic wrapIm supposed to fit a graduated cylinder in the shoe box with water inside itThere will be a lamp warming up the water and i have to use the above materials to help it heat up the waterAny ideas?Remember u cant wrap anything around the graduated cylinder?

Answer:

Behind the stage there was sometimes a crane called the 'mekhane'Actors could be hung from the crane to play gods or monsters flying through the airThese were early special effects!
What I would do is line the black paper underneath the graduated cylinder because it attracts lightThen I would put the aluminium foil around the walls of the shoe box to reflect the heatNow cover the opening over the shoe box with plastic wrap so it will let the light in but won't let the heat escapeI would experiment with how much black paper/aluminium foil you use and see which yields the highest temperature.
for actors playing godsthat's where the phrase deus ex machina comes from - god in a machine.
