I recently bought a truck, it starts and runs great. However there is a serious electrical problem, the windshield wipers, electronic windows, and radio do not work. I have checked all the fuses and none were blown. Where else do I go from here in finding what the problem would be.
the dash wire harness has a ground wire that hooks to the steering column support bracket. even if its hooked up reposition it for a good contact.
There are distinctive caps for various purposes, examine the cap that runs ok against the recent cap with an ohm meter and be sure the steel electrodes on the interior adventure the plug twine connections on the exterior. I even have seen many caps which you're able to swear the electrode went quickly up from the interior to the exterior even nevertheless it truly went to a plug twine terminal on the different area of the cap. seem VERY close at this. different than that i could seem heavily for the rest you could disturb mutually as changing the cap. issues like injector wires, coil wires, etc. you're able to be inadvertently changing some thing different than the cap once you regulate the cap.
The others listed are good possibilities, but a common issue especially with older vehicles is grounding. All the wiring to the accessories is in your harness, but every connection completes the circuit through the frame. Check where the ground wires for these accessories hooks back to the metal. It may be to the dash, body panel or the frame itself.
1988 yep there could have been a hole list of people cutting and hacking wires in that much time. A test light is going to be your best friend with this one. Due to the fact that everything is not out I'm going to say you should start with that test light in the fuse block, check the fuses with the test light first. I hope you can tell what fuses are for what, like the wipers, not sure you would have the owners manual in the glove box but I am sure you can get the info you need off the web. Start with the wipers, it would have a fuse of it's own. The radio may be tied in to something else, that is where the book would help. If you have no power to the fuse you will need to pull the fuse block down and inspect it it may be green with corrosion, from there all the items you said don't work get there power from the ignition switch so go backwards.
Get/find a wiring diagram (autozone has some for free if you check around their website) and you will have to track it down from there. I suspect those components are powered via a relay on the fuse panel, but not certain.
