I bought a used Accord about 3 months ago, and I have noticed that, when I use the wipers, they make a loud banging sound when returning to their original position. They do a good job of clearing off the water, though, and the bang only seems to happen when I‘m driving (if I‘m sitting still at a light, the bang is noticeably reduced). What would be causing this? Should I get new wipers? Is it a motor issue?
It's important that you make sure that your windshield is very clean and free from wax and regular road grime. You can buy a regular windshield cleaner or I use alcohol pads to really get mine clean. I also use these pads to clean the blade itself every now and then as a precaution. The Rain-X is a really good idea too.
