Not sure about making it brighter, but an idea I just had was putting a strobe light insideThey're not very large, and the final product might turn out pretty cool.
put in a few more candles or a flashlight, thats what i normally do, I put 4 tea lights in there put i put them in jars so the inside candles dont get all black on the top and i kind of rest the lid on top of the actualy pumpkin after a few hours so the top doesnt get totally black with smoke and stuff:)
