A question for seasoned stained glass artisans?

I want to make stained glass panes for my front door; windows; and cabinets. I have not purchased the needed tools yet because I want to know which is better for the projects I want to do: Lead or Foil? Thanks!ToryPensacola, FL

Answer:

Lead may be better but it has been found to be poisonous and leaches into the air through moisture. You'll be hard-pressed to find real leading for your panes. The Muse
It depends on the size and the pattern. If the pattern is intricate, then copper foil would be advised. If it is large, then copper foil might also be advised due to the weight of the lead, however, if you want a more traditional look with large pieces, then lead would be the route.
I have a dear friend that does stained glass and she is very, very good at what she does She used to do repairs for church windows and historical buildings She taught me how to make a small stained glass piece from leftover glass sheets and pieces. We used copper foil I think it's easier to work with and it doesn't have the fumes that lead would .If it's your first piece it might take awhile. It took me from scratch to do a 5x8 inch window hanging 6 hours ! Maybe longer. ! Good luck
no wedding gown, but you don't sound like the kind of girl that would opt for a traditional pant suit! you already have your veil sorted out, so why not wear a white mini skirt with white leggings and a really funky top? if i were a tad younger - [ oh all right - 30 years younger] - lol - thats what i'd be wearing - something out of the 'norm'. let us know what you decide!!!!!!
