Question:

A student exhales into two vials?

A student exhales into two vials of a solution of phenol red, effectively changing the solution's color to yellow, and places a piece of green plant into each vialThe student then proceeds to wrap one vial in aluminum foil and places both vials 15 cm from a light sourceWhat color do you expect each vial's solution of phenol red to be at the end of one hour? Explain.

Answer:

Chi Guy - I know you've seen me say it, but you still have not read the Iraq Liberation ActIt was our Policy to invadeLong befroe Bush came along360-38 congress was determined!!
My God, are you so out of it that you're still beating that old tired drum? The lies about yellowcake came from Jackass Joe Wilson and his bimbo wifeNo WMD's you claim, then just what the heck did they use to murder all those Kurds? Give your old tired drum a restNobody's listening to it anymore.
Bush did not invent the information that you characterize as liesThey were commonly believed to be true by a number of intelligence experts throughout the worldThere were many other reasons to invade Iraq besides information that might (or might not) be lies: the threat to neighboring countries (remember the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait?), the Iraqi government's treatment of its own citizens, the Iraqi government's violent resistance to the conditions it itself agreed upon to end the 1991-2 Gulf War, the danger that chemical weapons (which we KNOW they had - it is pretty much conceded that the Iraqi government used such weapons against Iraqi Shi'a muslims) might, either voluntarily or involuntarily, fall into the hands of terrorists to name a few.
I've done this lab, What will happen is the phenol red right now is neutral, when you blow into it, carbon from your breath is in the tube changing it into yellow, which means it is acidicWhen you put a plant in the vials, the plant(We did Elodea) will absorb the carbon and release oxygen, turning the now acidic solution(yellow) into neutral(red)When you wrap the aluminum foil on one of the tubes, photosynthesis is blocked, preventing the plant, from absorbing the carbon and releasing Oxygen, therefore the solution stays acidic.
