Question:

Are the Braking systems on WW2 Tanks mounted somewhere near final drive system?

I know most working parts of common WW2 tanks but haven‘t researched what style of brakes (eg. drum) were used and where they are situated. Cheers John.

Answer:

The brakes are applied to the final drive system and are also used for steering. So on front-drive tanks like M4's and Panther's the brakes are in the front and on rear-drive tanks like T-34's they are on the rear.
