There is no red light. The display just reads Brake service warning. Visit workshop. The car does not seem to have any change in braking distance and the brakes do not squeak. Any suggestions you might have will be appreciated. Thanks.
This Site Might Help You. RE: How long can u drive a 2003 Mercedes E320 after brake service warning goes on? There is no red light. The display just reads Brake service warning. Visit workshop. in your case when error message is :Brake service warning. Visit workshop. then you need to take it to the dealer as soon as you can, but it's not that your brakes will fail on you, just don't take any trips with that car before having the dealer look at it. your car has what's it's called Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) brake system, where a microcomputer monitor's the car's and your actions, and it monitor's the brake pressure and applies stopping power when it sees neccessary. well the system didn't work as good as mercedes thought, there was a big recall on the cars with SBC, especially 2003-04 e-class. mercedes fixed it out of their pockets, and they still cover for the life of the car. but don't worry, it's not like the car's brakes will fail on you, there is also a back up hydrolic only braking system in place, so your brakes will still work even if SBC fails. so take the car to the dealer as soon as you can, drop your car there and they will give you a new mercedes as a loaner :), they will fix it for free since SBC brake problems mercedes will fix for free. if you dealer is a really small dealer and acts like they don't know about this, then call mbusa and they will contact your dealer and take care of it, so no worries. good luck. now if it sad brake lining wear, then your brake pads are getting worn low, but you still have a good 1000 miles left on those pads (300 miles if you drive in mountains with a lot of turns and braking).
