Yes we have one as we have a vent less gas heater in the living room. It is near the floor around the corner from the heater. Any one who uses gas in their home should have a CM detector, they can save your life, you can not smell carbon monoxide. Poppy
Yes. Our last furnace was getting older and the guy who cleaned it said we could go another two or three years before we replaced it if we had a carbon monoxide detector. We got a new furnace several years ago.

A few months ago my husband and I moved into a mobile home park For Older Persons. Lucky for us there was already a c.m. detector installed. The first one we've ever had. And I'm glad it's here. We also have two smoke detectors.
I have two. One in the stairwell leading out of the basement and one on the top floor. Ironically, the batteries died in both of them within 15 minutes of each other just two days agoand yes, I've replaced them.
