I'm fairly new to cross country skiingWhat are the best clothes to wear to stay warm and dry but not too hot or sweaty?
A safety pin is good especially if it's a dropped stitch you want to mark.
You can use a line of saftry pinsor you could do a few really big sewing stiches with contrasting yarn; if you don't tie the ends you'll be able to pull them right out when you don't need them.
They sell stitch markers for knitting and crochetingAll they are is a plastic circle that can open and you just slip it in the stitch you need to remember etcYou can get these at any store that sells knitting supplies like a Michaels, AC Moore, fabric store, box store.etc ad if you're looking for something that you can sew over .you could felt a small piece of yarn or wool as a marker on your yarn.
Try layering up.a wicking/long underwear layer, an insulating layer, and a windproof/waterproof layerYou can continually adjust it (unzip, roll sleeves up, take off a layer, etc.) as neededI usually wear a knit hat that I can stuff in my pocket if I get too hotI also wear a light weight pair of glovesRemember.no cottonOnce cotton gets wet (with sweat), it will make you cold (it has no insulation value)Synthetic fabrics (fleece, capilene, etc.), as well as wool, keep their insulation value even if they get completely soaked.
