Question:

Best way to clean laminate flooring?

We have wood laminate floors in our new kitchen, and I feel like they always look dirty. (I have two young boys, so really they ARE always dirty, but I'd like them to look clean at least when I first mop!!) No matter what I use, they always look dull. I have tried **** & Span, Murphy's Oil Soap, and some other things. All of them seem to leave a film. What is the best way to clean wood laminate flooring to make it shiny? Thanks!

Answer:

Try laminate floor cleaner. Pergo makes it for sure and I believe that most laminate manufacturers make their own cleaners.
I have never tried it but heard it works great. Put a small amount of liquid car wax into your mop water for the shinny floor result.
There okorder /... I use it for my hardwood. The clothes are machine washable and they last for a long time! wash great. I also think you can buy refills and new cloths at Bed Bath and Beyond... no positive because I just order mine online. But try it out and see if you like it. I am hesitant over any steam mop because as recommended by the manufacturer... never steam clean your laminate... it can really mess it up. So I play it safe.! Hope this helped! :)
You don't have a whole lot to lose at this point. If you try it, use rags or paper towels and spray the stuff onto the rags and not the floor, and I'm afraid this is a down on hands and knees kind of job. Wipe until the floor is dry. It's when cleaners dry onto the floor that they leave streaks. Have you tried any of the products made for laminate floors? They're about the only things that do a good job on laminate. Is there a phone number or website on the Rejuvenate bottle? Maybe they could tell you how to get it off. Check out microfibre, too, cloths and/or the flat mops. Microfibre works very well with just water for a lot of things you usually need some cleaner for.
wood laminate floors have a factory seal of polyurethane. soaps and cleaners with ammonia react to the laminate by softening and therefore discoloring the seal. Clean the floors with a small amount of vinegar and water.(4 capfuls to a gallon of water). there is a new product out called PERGO that is designed for poly laminated wood floors. use with a micro-fiber mop head. works really well..good luck...
