Question:

Best way to protect wood from heat?

I'm constructing a stand that will be used for brewing beerThis is going to include 3 propane powered burners, and I'm a bit concerned about using wood for something that is going to be close to a flameBecause the burners will sit on top of the wood, I don't forsee it as too much of a problemHowever, I'd like to take as many precautions as I canDoes anyone have any suggestions on either the type of wood I should use or any specific things I should coat the wood with?

Answer:

I use aluminum foil when I sweat pipes against wood as it deflects the heat.but you are talking something different as it would be constant heat.maybe some duct work material or sheet metal with some short legs on it, so only the legs will get hotYou can bend the metal to make the legs.and then have your burners sit on that Mmmmmmmm beer Homer
