what are some precautions you should take while servicing a brake systemex. brake fluid contamination.
keep the fluid out of your eyes, it will cause blindness in a hurry. remember that some sections of the brake system retain fluid under pressure.
wearing a mask cuz you don't want brake dust (asbestos) in your lungs. Keeping the fresh pads and rotors clear of any oily substances. Inspect for leaks along lines, where they most often occur. Replace rusty lines with new ones made of something other than steel, or else the line will rupture, causing brake failure and brake fluid leakage. Inspect parking (emergency) brake actuation, and make necessary adjustments. Keep e-brake cables cleaned and springs oiled.
Keep brake fluid and oils etc off of the linings. Keep air out of the brake hydraulics. Wear a mask to 'help' protect you from toxic dust. Use specialist brake cleaner to clean down the repair/service area and most importantly of all: make sure you fully know what you are doing BEFORE you start, as mistakes are not just expensive.they are life threatening!
