When I hit the brakes, do I need to shift to a lower gear and when should I shift?
Thank you all for your replies and opinions.
yes most all come with sway bars, there is no real point in aftermarket ones unless you drive it hard or race it or it goes out. but if you're just driving miss daisy to the mall then id keep my money
you dont have to unless if your going fast enough to the point you need your tranny to slow you down. why dont you just drive automatic?
if you are racing it let it hit the rev. limiter and it will shift it self and you shift down as much as you want depending on how reved up you want your enginethat car wont let it hurt itself
first off you don't have to shift up untill the RPMs are at 5000 in a MBZ kompressor, (though from 1st to 2nd thats fine). If you are using the gears as well as the brakes then you should shift from 5th to 4th around 55-45mph, from 4th to 3rd between 45-25mph, from 3rd to 2nd only around 15mph and don't shift into 1st until you're stopped. If you are just using the brakes to slow you, then just pop it into overdrive (that's what I usually do), and just use the t. THis is what i'd recomend. ouch shift when u need a little power.) tiptronic shifting is usually used to accelerate quickly (more like a stick shift), but its not that great for downshifting. Also, in a kompressor I find the quickest acceleration is to punch the gas half way and keep it down. but not floor it. The car will shift around 5000 rpm and feel like a race car!
