Hook up a multimeter to the plug and spin the fan. If it shows a voltage, you are producing energy. The motor may have diodes or a reverse power device to prevent a surge from being created by the motor, but if you spin it and check the wiring at certain points, you will discover where to connect your wires to produce power. I have seen generators become motors when the reverse power relays failed. It should be able to work the other way around.
