Question:

Can a BMX tire going 90 mph?

Im making a mini chopper and im wondering if a BMX tire and rim can hold going 90 mph. The engine, frame, and rider weigh about 300lbs total. Will there be too much pressure on the wheel and tire? If there will do you know a cheap and safe alternative?

Answer:

It WILL blow out as they aren't designed to take that much velocity (speed) and that much weight + the weight of a rider The cheapest and safest solution would be to use a motorcycle tyre with a speed rating of more than 90mph --Mikey B--
Mikey hit the nail on the head. The tire isn't designed to go that fast or have that much pressure put on it. That would be very dangerous at 90 miles an hour. A potentially fatal mistake.
