Question:

Can a motorcycle be used in the winter?

In New England. Is it illegal? Obviously I won‘t be driving in snow or on ice, but if its cold and the weather‘s not bad enough for school delays/closings, can I ride a motorcycle?

Answer:

Its definitely legal.but keep in mind that if its 20 degrees, and you're going 40 mph, then including wind chill, you're at -20 degrees. Do you really want to be THAT cold?
It's legal, but if a cop sees you and thinks that you are being reckless by riding your bike in the snow you will get a ticket for reckless driving. I got a ticket on my old KE100 for riding it in the winter and the cop was a complete douche. I went to court and lost. Good luck
It's legal, but not recommended. -hard on all exposed parts--bikes don't have rust-proofing; -hard on motor--most wear occurs on start-up, and the motor may not get up to normal operating temps at all; -black ice can be a serious hazard; -motorcycle tires are very hard and lack grip at low temps--they're designed for warm weather; -your battery and charging system may not be up to the demands of cold weather starting; -drivers on the road will be even less likely to see you in winter, when motorcycles are not expected on the roads; -one word: hypothermia! -it's very hard to keep goggles and visors from fogging up, while also trying to keep one's face from freezing; -any gloves/mitts that are warm enough will make operation of hand controls awkward, at best; -you will spend an amazing amount of time dressing/undressing at each end of the ride.
